Consultation and Training Specialized for Group Homes and Group Home Staff
Over the past 19 years, in addition to doing therapy in my private practice, I have worked as a Therapist, Program Director, and Clinical Director in residential treatment facilities (group homes) for foster youth in both South Carolina and California. Also, much of my clinical work has included working extensively with homeless women and children and victims of human trafficking, primarily within the residential setting. As a result, I have gained vast experience, knowledge, and insight into the various aspects of residential treatment from both a clinical perspective and an administrative perspective.
I was Certified Group Home Administrator for seven years and have carried an organization through the accreditation process with the California Alliance of Child and Family Services. I have also participated on a team with the California Alliance of Child and Family Services to conduct reviews for peer agency re-accreditation on two occasions. As a result of my experience, I am able to understand first-hand the challenges group home staff face and can relate to them, which creates a safe and trusting training environment that fosters learning.
I have developed many training sessions/workshops that address a variety of topics including mental health diagnoses, therapeutic interventions, staff issues, trauma-informed care, and many other topics related directly to foster youth and residential treatment facilities. These training sessions/workshops have been designed to meet the CA Community Care Licensing training requirements for all group home staff; however, they can also be tailored to meet the needs of clinical staff as well. Consultation and Training are tailored to meet the specific needs of your organization. Therefore, fees are based on the training package put together to meet your specific needs and will be determined and agreed upon prior to commencement of training.
